The installation at Ghent University Hospital demonstrates how renewable energy infrastructure can be integrated into safety-critical environments without compromising operational integrity.
Located on the hospital’s car park, the solar system generates clean electricity while addressing a unique challenge: The site is located next to the hospital’s emergency zone, which includes a helipad for time-critical patient transfers. LONGi Anti-Glare Pro modules reduce solar glare to near zero, helping maintain safe visibility during helicopter takeoffs and landings while allowing the hospital to generate solar power directly alongside critical aviation operations.
This project illustrates that, in the commercial and industrial sector, photovoltaic installations are increasingly shaped by more than financial returns and payback periods. The ability to address site-specific risks and adapt to demanding operational environments is becoming an equally important driver.
