Greece has moved from early-stage PV deployment to one of the highest solar penetration rates in Europe. The grid is under growing pressure, energy prices are becoming harder to predict, and the need for storage is no longer a future consideration but an immediate market priority. The question now is which local players are positioned to deliver it and with what technology.

At Intersolar Europe 2026 in Munich, LONGi Solar and INERGION signed an MoU formalising an expansion of their existing partnership into energy storage, with a target pipeline of 400 MWh of BESS for the Greek market. The agreement was signed by Chao Jia, President of LONGi Europe for DG, and Panos Blatsios, Managing Director of INERGION.

INERGION has earned its position as Greece's go-to renewable energy distributor and now brings that depth to the storage market

Founded in 2007 and a member of the Greek TESCO Group of Companies, INERGION is one of Greece’s most established distributors of renewable energy equipment and systems, working with professional installers, EPCs, and project developers across the country. Its market depth and supply chain relationships make it a natural partner for bringing new technology to the Greek grid at scale. The move into BESS reflects both the company's strategic direction and the market reality it operates in, as Greece's regulatory environment for storage accelerates and curtailment pressure continues to grow.

The LONGi ONE storage architecture removes the complexity that has historically slowed storage deployment in markets like Greece

The 400 MWh pipeline reflects a specific product thesis about what Greek BESS projects need. At Intersolar 2026, LONGi presented its full LONGi ONE storage portfolio, a suite of integrated BESS solutions designed to move away from the multi-vendor fragmentation that has historically complicated project delivery and post-commissioning accountability.

The partnership focuses on Hi-MO One Pro, the commercial and industrial (C&I) storage solution within the LONGi ONE portfolio. By combining battery storage with intelligent energy management, it helps businesses maximise self-consumption, reduce peak demand and respond more effectively to changing electricity prices. For INERGION, distributing the LONGi ONE family means offering a solution where hardware, EMS, BMS, PCS, thermal management and iCCS come from a single architectural source. This removes a layer of complexity that has historically made accountability difficult to establish.

The 400 MWh pipeline reflects a shared long-term commitment to the Greek energy market

"LONGi's technological leadership combined with INERGION's two decades of presence in the Greek market creates the kind of partnership that can genuinely move the needle on storage deployment here," said Panos Blatsios, Managing Director of INERGION. "Greece needs reliable, bankable storage solutions delivered by partners who understand the local regulatory environment and the expectations of developers who have been waiting for this market to open."

"Greece is one of the most strategically important markets for LONGi in Southern Europe, and INERGION is the partner through whom we have built our credibility there," said Adrian Kocan, General Manager Eastern Europe at LONGi Solar (DG). "Extending this partnership into storage is a natural step, and the scale of the pipeline reflects genuine market demand, not an aspiration."

"Greece is a market where the fundamentals for storage have been building for years and we are now seeing that demand translate into concrete project pipelines," said Athanasios Plainos, Country Manager Greece and Cyprus at LONGi Solar. "INERGION has been our partner long enough that we know exactly how they work and what they deliver. 400 MWh is a number that reflects what we are already seeing on the ground."

The Greek BESS market is accelerating, and the partnerships that succeed at scale will combine the right product architecture with deep local market presence. The agreement between LONGi and INERGION is built on both.
