Europe has built renewable generation at scale. The challenge now is to make better use of the clean electricity already being produced.
For Chao Jia, President of LONGi Europe’s Distributed Generation business, this puts greater emphasis on how electricity is stored, managed and used. Growing solar capacity alone cannot address periods when generation and demand do not coincide.
Battery storage is becoming increasingly important in this context. Combined with intelligent energy management, it allows homes and businesses to store solar electricity when generation exceeds demand and use it when it creates greater value. At a larger scale, storage can support the integration of growing volumes of renewable electricity into the energy system.
Jia also sees intelligence becoming more important within the technology itself. Predictive monitoring can identify potential risks earlier, while intelligent energy management can coordinate generation, storage and consumption based on changing conditions.
