PES interview with Chao Jia: Why more solar is only part of the answer

Europe has installed solar at unprecedented speed. The next challenge is making every available surface, every kilowatt-hour and every part of the energy system work harder.

At Intersolar Europe 2026, LONGi took an important step in that direction with the European launch of Hi-MO One, its new energy storage portfolio. The portfolio extends LONGi’s offering beyond high-efficiency solar modules, bringing PV, storage and intelligent energy management together to address a changing European energy system.

Against this backdrop, PES Solar spoke with Chao Jia, President of LONGi Solar Europe, about what comes next for solar in Europe. The conversation covers the growing role of storage in managing renewable generation, grid stability and periods of negative electricity prices, as well as the technologies needed to make solar viable across a wider range of applications.

Jia also discusses the technology behind LONGi’s storage solutions, including its Intelligent Cell Contact System (iCCS), which provides cell-level monitoring and predictive safety capabilities.

At the same time, LONGi continues to diversify its solar module portfolio. Specialized anti-glare, lightweight and fire-resistant solutions are designed for sites where conventional modules face specific technical, structural or safety constraints.

From generating more solar power to managing when and where that energy can be used, the interview offers a closer look at how LONGi sees the next stage of Europe’s energy transition.
